BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A storm system that swept across Alabama on Sunday spawned at least two tornadoes in east Alabama.

According to National Weather Service meteorologists in Birmingham, the tornadoes touched down in Tallapoosa and Barbour counties.

Survey teams determined that both twisters were F-One's, meaning winds were clocked between 85 to 95 miles per hour.

The first tornado was spotted shortly after 4 p.m. near Highway 49 in Tallapoosa County where it damaged three homes and destroyed one trailer. Dozens of trees also were snapped.

Approximately four hours later in Barbour County, another F-One tornado was blamed for uprooting between 200 to 300 trees. It also damaged or destroyed several mobile homes, south of Eufaula.

No one was hurt.
