MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Country music singer Sara Evans will headline Governor Riley's inaugural ball in Birmingham. Riley's inaugural chairman, state Representative Mike Hubbard, unveiled the inaugural plans Wednesday.

Riley's second inaugural is scaled back from his first in 2002, with about half as many events. The main activities begin with a prayer breakfast on January 14th in downtown Montgomery.

The swearing-in ceremony for Riley and other constitutional officers will be held at noon on January 15th in front of the Capitol. That will be followed by the inaugural parade at 1:30 pm along Montgomery's main street, Dexter Avenue.

Then the inauguration moves to the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Center, where the ball will begin at 8 p-m. Entertainers besides Evans are the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, the Sweet Young'uns from Tallassee and the Tip-Tops from Mobile. Tickets are 150 dollars each.

State Representative Alvin Holmes has asked Hubbard to make 500 tickets available free to poor Alabamians. But Hubbard says that's not possible because the inauguration gets no tax money and has to pay its own way.
