To address Dothan’s water needs the city commission is looking toward constructing two new water wells.
Last summer, drought left Dothan’s wells pumping overtime. City officials feel the construction of two new wells will fix the problem.
In 2001, the city hired Poly-Engineering to study the ongoing issue.
The group suggested building three new, water pumping wells in mid-November.
On Tuesday, city officials approved to take out a $9.5 million dollar loan with a 3.5 interest rate over a course of five years to get the project started.
As soon as the wells are up and running, within about two years they'll be online for public use.
