At a time when America celebrates its independence, some have the job to continue fighting for our country.

Members of the Army National Guard 144th Transportation Company will soon leave to continue Operation Iraqi Freedom.

"These soldiers have tremendous community involvement quite simply because they have been here so long, we have generation upon generation that have deployed with the 144th," said First Lieutenant Vincent Crump.

Veterans also joined family and friends at Sunday’s ceremony to show younger generations of soldiers the support that they were once given.

Bill Sellers said, "We all need to keep them in our players. Traveling the roads of Iraq is not fun"

Commuting from railways and other sites- the main goals of the company will be transportation and security.

The unit was last deployed to Iraq in 2004. This time around about 70 soldiers will travel to Iraq, out of a total of 134.

There weren't enough slots for the entire company, but that doesn't mean the other half is slacking.

"It’s like a basketball, baseball or football team. Nobody wants to sit on the bench; everybody wants to get in the game."

The soldiers will fly out of the Tallahassee Airport on Wednesday to West Palm Beach to join forces with the 1218th Transportation Company out of West Palm Beach.

The 144th and the 1218th Transportation companies will have a training period at camp Atterbury, Indiana before the troops move out to Iraq.
