Dothan police are cracking down on extended parking. The department will have heavier enforcement on hourly parking spots, particularly those located downtown and in shopping centers.
Bicycle patrol will be marking the tires of vehicles parked, and if they exceed the allotted parking time, police will issue $10 ticket.
“The enforcement activity is actually driven by the meetings that have occurred with the business owners,” said Chief John Powell. “People who are involved with the revitalization of downtown, wanting to make sure that the people who have business downtown that there's adequate parking.”
Authorities will also heavily patrol handicapped spots. The penalty for illegally parking in a handicapped space is $50.
