The future location of Dothan's magistrate office could cost taxpayers additional money.
Despite more than $80,000 of renovations at its current location.
Right now, the city leases office space at the Miracle Finance Building for $21,000 a year.
During last Tuesday's city commission meeting, City Manager Dennis Rubin recommended moving the magistrate office over to the old central fire station on East Burdeshaw Street at a renovation cost of $275,000.
It would take the city 13 years to recoup this cost versus leasing at the current location.
But, Rubin says while the city has paid for thousands of dollars of work at the Miracle Building, it's time to stop renting space when the city has its own.
The commission will make a decision on the magistrate's future location on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
