School Assault

A Dothan man accused in last week's attack on a school principal will remain behind bars, at least a while longer.

Renaul Johnson is charged with assault and intimidating a witness in connection with the incident that happened last Tuesday.

Investigators say he grabbed Montana Street Magnet School Principal Sandy Joyner by the hair and struck her in the face.

Prosecutors claim Johnson was retaliating after his sister, Rhonda Easley, was arrested for harassment following another confrontation with Joyner over the paddling of Easley's child.

Johnson was being held without bond and he went to court trying to get bond set so he could get out of jail.

Johnson told the judge he is not a flight risk.

But, District Attorney Doug Valeska argued that Johnson's criminal history makes him a risk to society.

Judge John Steensland set bond at $250,000. At last report, Johnson was still being held in the Houston County Jail.
