Authorities link Alabama men to 100 car break-ins

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) - Lee County authorities have arrested a group of Phenix City men who are suspected in more than 100 car break-ins.

Lee County Sheriff's deputies arrested 20-year-old Robert Bryan Haefner, 22-year-old Kevin Dewayne Watson, 20-year-old Kerry David Watson, and 19-year-old Christopher Brian Hammock last week.

Officials said the men might be responsible for a string of more than 100 cases where cars parked in yards or driveways were broken into at night and emptied of valuables.

Each has been charged with four counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle as well as theft of property in the first degree, theft of property in the second degree and theft of property in the third degree.

The four are being held in the Lee County Detention Facility with bonds of $30,000 each.
