Project Blue Light in Dothan

The Dothan Police Department is asking for everybody’s support this holiday season in support of Project Blue Light.

Officers ask to display blue lights, blue ornaments or blue Christmas decorations around your house during the season. It's to recognize and remember officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The color blue also symbolizes peace, and officers say that's exactly what they hope for this holiday season.

“The Holiday Season Typically shows an increase in crime as well as an increase in drunk driving. All of these situations cause hazards to officers out on the streets,” said Sgt. Stacey Robinson of Dothan Police Department.

Project Blue Light is a nationwide observance which began in 1986 by a woman whose son-in-law was killed in the line of duty in Philadelphia.
