BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The Internal Revenue Service says they
still have some $1.5 million in tax refunds belonging to Alabamians.
The agency said apparently 1,377 Alabamians either forgot or have some reason they decided not to claim the refunds that they were due for 2005. The average unclaimed IRS refund is $1,227.
Those are refunds that the IRS sent to taxpayers and were returned undeliverable by the Postal Service.
A list of those who have money waiting for them can be found on
the Internet at AL.com. Those wishing to claim the money owed
them can go to the IRS.gov Web site and claim it using the "Where's My Refund?" feature.
