The Coffee County Commission has now given an Ohio-based energy company permission to drill on its land.
Trinity Resources Incorporated believes there is oil near the northern Coffee/Pike County line.
A company spokesman would like to drill an exploratory well adjacent to the Frisco Community Voting House.
Fifty-years-ago, a similar attempt to find oil at the site proved fruitless, but the renewed search to find domestic oil reserves has sparked interest once again.
"Everything is clear and I urge the commission to approve this deed for mineral right exploration as far as the county is concerned," said Coffee Co. Commissioner J.L. Weeks.
Over several months, Trinity Resources has been able to receive mineral rights from homeowners in Frisco and surrounding Coffee County Communities.
