It's been nearly a month since the first Wiregrass Honor Flight took 90 World War II veterans to Washington DC to see their memorial.

Now seats are almost filled for not just a 2nd but a 3rd trip to the capitol.

When organizers first started putting together the first honor flight they had no idea it would be such a success.

"When we were asked to do this by a couple of veterans it was the furthest from my mind that we would do more than one," says organizer Bob Bunting.

But they say the response has been overwhelming...

"About the 3rd or 4th day after we came back we had 39 new applications for people wanting to go in one day," says Bunting.

A 2nd and 3rd trip are in the works.

Ted Bryant is honored to go on the next trip.

He served as a flight engineer on a B-24 in World War II and says just thinking about the trip brings back memories.

"I've gotten out some books today I haven't had out in several years for that reason," says Bryant.

"We're going to take these great Americans that served our country so well," says Bunting.

Hoping to be able to offer this chance to as many veterans as possible, now organizers just have to find the $45,000 needed to fund the third flight.

"I know the people of the Wiregrass will come through and the money will come."

The organization depends on donations from the community to make these trips possible for heroes like Bryant, One of only two members of his crew still living.

"I feel like I'll be representing eight other guys who aren't living and one that is living by getting to go back there," says Bryant.

Bryant will board the second flight on September 26th.

The third will be April 24th of 2010.
