MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - John Giles, the longtime head of the Christian Coalition of Alabama, has resigned his post with the group, now known as Alabama Christian Action.
Giles, in a letter today, announced he was stepping down effective December 26th.
The well-known Christian activist told Chairman Bob Russell he was resigning because family and friends had asked how much longer he would serve and because he said it may be time for a fresh face in the organization.
Giles has headed the organization for almost nine years.
