Law Enforcement Gears Up for Bama Jam
This weekend's three-day Bama Jam Music Festival is expected to draw tens of thousands of people to Coffee County. There will be plenty of traffic in the area so local law enforcement are preparing for any potential problems.

Dozens of musical acts will be attracting people to Bama Jam for the second year in a row.

Last year's scorching temperatures taught many the dangers of dehydration.

"When they come out there, they should bring their sunscreen, stay hydrated. If you feel thirsty, then it is too late. Drink lots of water," says Sheriff Dave Sutton Coffee County.

Alcohol will be for sale, which is why the Alabama Beverage Control board will be at the festival to regulate any problems including underage drinking.

"Last year, a majority of the arrests made were for minors under the consumption of alcohol. There were approximately 35 minors arrested, and that will be enforced this year" said Captain Mike Lolley Enterprise Police Department.

Law enforcement also asks the public to have a designated driver and respect other concert goers but for those who don't obey the laws.

"If you are arrested you will be taken to a holding facility at the command post. You will be processed and bonded out unless it’s a felony, you will be bonded out on site" says Captain Lolley.

The Coffee County Sheriff's Department will be using their helicopter to keep an eye on crowds and they will be looking for illegal drug use.

"We'll be able to spot marijuana from the air. A well trained eye can spot marijuana on somebody's back porch," says Sheriff Sutton.

There will be two other aircraft on site- the Dale County Sheriff Department's helicopter and an air ambulance.

EMS will be available in case of an emergency.

Other law enforcement agencies throughout the Wiregrass will be on standby.

The Alabama State Trooper's Department will be handling the traffic.
