Samson Armory Renovation on Hold

This week, one Wiregrass city learned it's been turned down for a grant to renovate an old National Guard armory building.

Samson officials were looking for $200,000 dollars from Montgomery.

Last summer, the armory, which is located along Highway 52, was bought for the city for around $65,000 dollars.

Samson city council members have expressed hope to remodel the building into a community center.

Mayor cay King says he, along with the Geneva County State Delegation will travel to Montgomery to argue for the grant money.

But for now, the armory re-modeling project has been put on hold.
