The city of Geneva learned this week that it will receive tens-of-thousands of state dollars to clean-up structural eyesores.
Property owners will be able to sign-up under the demolition grant.
At no expense to the home or business owner, the state will cover the cost of demolishing and then removing the debris of an abandoned home.
The city of New Brockton is currently in the midst of removing its abandoned structures.
All it takes is for the property owner to sign the necessary paperwork.
"An excellent opportunity for those to improve their property, building something new but don't have the money to destroy and get rid of what they have already," said Mayor Karen Simmons of Geneva.
Those Geneva property owners interested in having their old homes demolished at state expense should sign-up at city hall during normal business hours.
