RIVERDALE, Ga. (AP) - A six-year-old girl was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital Tuesday after the daycare van in which she was riding overturned in rush-hour traffic near Riverdale.

Authorities did NOT release the name of the girl. Clayton County Police Major Tim Robinson says she received a head injury and is in stable condition at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

The van's driver -- 23-year-old Martel White and four children were treated and released from Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale.

The girl was one of nine children riding in a van operated by Safe Haven Learning Center. Robinson says the van was traveling northbound at 7:15 a-m in a center lane of busy Riverdale Road that was reserved for turning.

The van swerved into the southbound lane of traffic when a southbound vehicle entered the turn land. The van struck a Ford Explorer.

Robinson says White was ticketed for improper use of the center turn lane.

The driver of the vehicle that the van struck was taken to the hospital.
