Amendment One

Amendment One NO

Voters have overwhelmingly rejected the governor's proposed $1.2 billion tax proposal.

They turned out in record numbers at the polls to voice their opposition.

With a 100 percent of the precincts reporting, 68 percent of voters said no and 32 percent said yes.

It's now up to legislators to figure out how to run schools and government for another year despite a $675 million deficit.

The floor leader in the Alabama House says legislators will have to quote, "Do some serious cutting."
