There is now an additional roadblock on what used to be a commonly-used shortcut in Coffee County.
New Brockton Mayor Charles Cole says it's not the city's fault that repair delays are in effect for Coffee County Road 533. Area residents know it better as Tyler Street.
It has been closed to motorists for a year-and-a-half after heavy rain created a deep sinkhole.
"Hopefully persons will understand it’s not the town of New Brockton that's holding-up the work on Tyler Street. If you want to call someone, call Polyengineering in Dothan, or Carter Construction of Andalusia," said Mayor Cole.
The repair completion date has been moved back from January to March 2007.
