Soon the person on the other end of the phone line could be someone to save your life.

Dale County’s Emergency Management leader, Ray Phillips, is hoping to get an automated phone alert system for Dale County residents.

The system is similar to a "reverse 9-1-1" where a computer would dial everyone in a designated area to alert them of any dangers heading their way like severe weather or terrorists attacks.

Depending on which system is selected, costs are expected to be around $30,000.

"We could use it for weather related items. We could allow the local law enforcement agencies to use it for amber alerts. We could use it for a missing person such as an Alzheimer’s patient. Many many uses" says Ray Phillips, Dale Co. EMA Director.
The money for the system would mainly come from a federal grant that's designated to augment the Dale County EMA.
