A man who's considered one of the top contenders in the 2008 presidential election also stopped in Dothan today.
Republican US Senator John McCain made a fundraising stop to help House Republicans maintain control of the House.
The wiregrass is considered an area that would help further that effort.
During McCain’s visit he also spoke on former US Representative Mark Foley, who resigned after it was found that he'd been emailing sexually explicit material to pages on Capitol Hill.
"I strongly recommend that we get together four or five people who are highly respected former members of Congress, who everyone respects and admires who serves but are now retired who'd examine the facts of this case and not only to say what the responsibilities are but what actions need to be taken," McCain says.
In 2000, McCain was defeated in the Republican Primary by President George W. Bush.
