Troy University leaders are targeting campus litterbugs on its campuses.

University officials have launched an anti-litter campaign to encourage people to throw trash away.

Officials say you could face a $75 dollar fine, and students may also face disciplinary hearings.

In addition to the fine, violators could be required to perform community service on campus, picking up trash while wearing a bright orange vest.

"It’s simply the fact of keeping a clean environment for our students, visitors and guests here. Certainly, I think that's the main reason, just to promote an environment that we've already promoted: that's a very beautiful campus," says Dean of Student Services, Herb Reeves.

Right now, the litter campaign is enforced at Troy’s main campus, but other campuses may soon follow.
