A soldier from Ozark is on his first deployment in Baghdad.
News Four talked with the soldier on Friday via satellite.
Major Michael Boyd has been in Iraq for one month.
After 22 years in the military, this is his first deployment.
Major Boyd is a medical operations officer with the 3rd Medcom.
He is in a command control posture, not actually patient care.
Major Boyd’s parents were in the WTVY Studio when News Four spoke with him.
They smiled when they saw their son.
Major Boyd says the most difficult part of his deployment so far is the scorching heat and the fine sand, but he says it's worth it.
He also had a message for the American’s who have reservations about Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Major Boyd is based out of Camp Victory and is an active Guard Reserve soldier.
Both Major Boyd’s parents were also in the Army.
