Fraternity Reinstated

A second white fraternity whose members dressed in racially offensive Halloween costumes has been reinstated at Auburn University as part of a lawsuit settlement.

Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity's local chapter will be reinstated under the agreement and Beta Theta Pi, which also had lost its university recognition in November also was reinstated.

Neither chapter received any financial payment from the university for settling the lawsuits.

Furin said the two Delta Sigma Phi members who wore KKK attire and blackface with a hangman's noose at last year's Halloween party won't be allowed back into the fraternity. He said five others who were suspended from the chapter will be dealt with in the fall.
