There is one organization at Troy University that is designed specifically to help women prevent or escape a rape attack.

It's called RAD, and it stands for Rape Aggression Defense.

It is designed for women to familiarize themselves with their surroundings.

Plus, it teaches ways to prevent an attack, and self-defense measures to help escape a rape situation.

"In the college environment, the college population is at heightened risk. Between the ages of 18 and 24 is the prime dating age. It's a very comfortable environment here and sometimes we let our guard down," says RAD Instructor, Fran Sheel.

The city of Troy also offers RAD classes to women of the community.

You can call the police department at 566-0500 for more information.
