Cottondale Burglary Arrest

arrest

Jackson County authorities believe they found a man responsible for a number of burglaries in the area.

A state prison canine tracking team found 44-year-old Dennis Hines hiding underneath a vehicle this weekend. The Jackson County man has a long criminal history. He may be the suspect in a series of business burglaries and vehicle break-ins in Cottondale.

Authorities say Hines was captured shortly after setting off a burglar alarm at Register's Meat Company.

Cottondale Police Chief William Watford says Hines is being questioned in several other burglaries including a supermarket, service station and a veterinarian's office.

Chief Watford says he believes Hines committed the burglaries to support a drug habit.

Hines is charged with burglary and is being held under a $25,000 bond at the Jackson Correctional Facility.
