A Wiregrass business is a total loss after an early morning fire.
Officials with Ashford Fire Department say they received a call about the fire around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, when they arrived Shivers Produce was fully engulfed.
Gordon, Lucy, Pansey and Cottonwood Fire Departments were also on the scene. It took about 30 minutes to put the fire out, but morning weather did put a damper on putting the blaze out.
“The wind was blowing pretty well out of the north and it kind of pushed it pretty strong into the second building into the larger refrigerator unit behind it got some damage to the walls managed to keep it contained from it also,” said Chief Jimmy Posey with Ashford Fire Department.
The owner did say she saw a man earlier this morning firing a gunshot at her business. The fire is under investigation.
