Sniper Shootings

John Allen Muhammad Sniper

Sniper suspect John Muhammad has begun making an opening statement in his own defense in his murder trial.

Wearing a brown jacket with a tie, Muhammad spoke directly to the jury.

He opened with a lengthy discussion about the meaning of the "Truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth." Muhammad insists he's innocent of the sniper shootings and didn't kill Dean Meyers, one of the victims in last year's attacks. He's on trial in connection with that killing.

In the rambling opening remarks, Muhammad also referred to his children, saying he loves them very much.
