The body of a Headland man who drowned in the Chattahoochee River has been recovered.

After more than eight hours of searching, rescue workers pulled James "Steve" Henry from the water around 11 p.m. Friday night.

Houston County Rescue Divers and the Early County Drag Team took part in the search.

Investigators say Henry accidentally fell into the waters of the Chattahoochee River while working alone at the George Andrews Lock and Dam.

He had said he planned to paint one of the lock's gates.

A paint can and gloves were found along with palm prints seen on the wall just above where he apparently fell into the water.
