Project Raven

An undisclosed Fortune 500 company has narrowed its choice for a distribution facility to Marianna and an unnamed city in Georgia.

Northwest Florida officials are calling it Project Raven.

Jackson County appears to be on the fast track in getting the company to choose Marianna.

This week, a banner has been placed over Highway 90 in Marianna. Project Raven is the code name used as a way to keep the company confidential as negotiations continue.

Over recent months, local officials have offered the Fortune 500 company an incentive package worth millions of dollars to lure it here.

Jackson County Industrial Development Director bill Stanton feels Marianna is the front-runner.

The company is expected to spend about $55 million to build a distribution facility, employing more than 500 people. The prospective site is at the I-10 and Highway 276 interchange, several miles West at the Highway 71 Exit.

The unnamed city in Georgia competing for the facility is reportedly close to Albany. Last week, company representatives visited both potential sites.

By Nov. 15 the company is expected to announce which site it has chosen for its distribution facility.
