Dothan Runoff Election

After serving in city government for nearly three decades, John Glanton will not be returning to office. The incumbent was defeated in the District Two runoff Tuesday.

Amos Newsome beat out incumbent John Glanton for the District Two Commission Seat.

Newsome received 447 total votes for 57.9-percent while Glanton received 325 votes.

Newsome says he is ready to begin work in District Two where there hasn't been a change in leadership in nearly 30 years.

Gary Martin and Phillip Tidwell faced each other in a runoff in District Six after the July 8 balloting.

Incumbent Matt Bullard trailed a field of five candidates.

Tidwell finished on top by less than 100 votes in the municipal election, but he was a big winner in Tuesday's runoff.

Complete, but unofficial, results show Tidwell with nearly 64-percent of the vote.

The winners of Tuesday's election will take office in October.
