The stars and stripes fly at half-mast in front of the Elba City School Board office. The honor is bestowed to a 1997 graduate of Elba High School.
Sergeant Jason Jordan was killed during an attack on an Army convoy in Iraq. The 24-year-old was a member of the Army's 101st Airborne Division.
At this time, there's no word on when Sergeant Jordan's body will be brought back to U.S. soil.
