Honor flight board communications chairman Jim McGhee spoke to members of Dothan rotary club Tuesday.
The group has raised around 35,000 dollars so far to take around 100 Wiregrass World War II veterans to Washington this summer.
McGee says there is still plenty of work to do before some of the "greatest generation" can experience the monument in their honor.
“Right now there are under 3 million World War II veterans left so time is of the essence where we can send these heroes of ours to see their memorial” McGee said.
