Houston County Tax Revenue

The nation's economy may have been off during the last fiscal year, but spending was up in Houston County.

County Administrator Roy Roberts told commissioners Monday that sales tax collections in Houston County rose by more than eight percent during the last fiscal year.

That translates into nearly one million dollars in additional revenue.

Houston County's sales tax revenue totaled $13.1 million last year compared to $12.1 million the previous year.

Seventy-percent of that money goes to the Houston County and Dothan city school systems.

The rest is earmarked for Houston County Road and Bridge Department projects.
