Woman Shot Downtown Dothan

The search is on for two Dothan teenagers police say shot a woman outside a check cashing store in the center of town.

Dothan police responded to a call from Chandler's convenience store on the corner of Alice and Houston Streets.

When they arrived they found a woman who they say was shot in the back of the head by two teens who attempted to rob her out in the parking lot.

Investigators say the woman tried to fend off her attackers, and that's when one of the suspects allegedly attacked her.

"We don't know if it was a small caliber handgun or whether it was a BB-gun, but she does have an injury to the back of her head. She was seen by the medics and she is going to follow up with medical attention,” explains Sgt. Keith Gray.

Authorities say the woman’s injuries are not life-threatening. Another teenager has been arrested and is currently being held for questioning, but police are asking the public for help to locate the two attackers.

Police say the two suspects are both male, and they say one of them was wearing a red shirt, black shorts, and black tennis shoes.

If you have any information about this crime you are asked to call the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3000.
