Authorities say three children have been killed in a house fire in Charity Chapel.

The children's parents and one of their siblings made it safely out of the house. Washington County Sheriff Richard Stringer tells the Press-Register of Mobile that the fire started in a two-story home early Friday morning while the family was sleeping.

Stringer identified the dead as 9-year-old Christie Nelson, and 11-year-olds David Ray Nelson and Colton Daniel Mosely. He says the children were found by firefighters just feet from their upstairs beds.

Their parents and another child were asleep downstairs when the fire started.
