The pilot who made that safe emergency landing on the Hudson River could be considered a national hero at this point.
One of C.B. Sullenberger's classmates from way back in high school says he's not surprised.
Doug Hoover, a Childhood friend of Sullenberger says, "I was thinking those people were extremely lucky to get a man so dedicated and
with so many years experience. And that if anybody, he definitely had the hero in him, he was the type of person to be a hero and not even think about it."
The White House says President Bush called Sullenberger to praise him for his, quote, "heroic efforts to ensure the safety of his passengers and the people in the area."
