U.S. military officials are reporting the deaths of two U.S. service members in separate attacks in Afghanistan today.
In the capital, Kabul, a suicide car bomber struck on a busy road between a U.S. military base and the German embassy.
One U.S. service member and four afghan civilians were killed.
Six American troops and an American civilian were also wounded.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, the military says one soldier died when militants in eastern Kunar Province fired at a transport helicopter, forcing it to make a hard landing.
A military spokesman says it's not clear whether the incoming fire brought down the helicopter.
