President-elect Barack Obama savored his final slow journey to destiny.
Traveling on a vintage train with his family, mister Obama traced the route
taken by his political idol, Abraham Lincoln.
He stopped in Delaware to pick up Vice President-elect Joe Biden and together, they travelled on to Baltimore and Washington.
Despite frigid temperatures, thousands turned out to hear his message of hope
"When we Americans get knocked down, we always get back on our feet." Says Obama.
The president elect began his trip in the city that gave birth to the American
"The American Revolution was and remains an ongoing struggle in the minds and hearts of the people to live up to our founding creed." Says Obama.
As many 3 million people could be in Washington Tuesday when Mister Obama is
Sworn in as this nation's 44th President and a good number of them are already here and already celebrating.
The President elect has scheduled a flurry of activities over the next 4
days including an all-star concert, a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King and
10 inaugural balls. But for many, the highlight will be on Tuesday when
Barack Obama puts his hand on Abe Lincoln's inaugural bible and takes the oath
as the nation's first African American President.
