As expected, a former Dothan police officer who was fired after he was arrested last summer has been suspended without pay from his new job.
The action came at Tuesday night's Columbia City Council meeting.
Officer David Carmichael, who's now with the Columbia Police Department, was arrested on a domestic violence charge last Friday.
Columbia Mayor James Green recommended that Carmichael be suspended without pay.
If Carmichael does not resign by the time the council meets again next month, the mayor says he'll recommend Carmichael be fired.
The Dothan Police Department fired Carmichael last August after he was arrested for domestic violence.
He was charged with domestic violence again last October.
All three charges are misdemeanors and Carmichael is still waiting to stand trial.
If he's convicted, he'll lose his right to carry a gun.
