It's been almost a year since Hurricane Katrina made landfall.
The Category 3 storm took the lives of more than 1,800 people and left thousands homeless.
Many evacuees sought shelter from the storm in the Dothan area.
Some evacuees attribute their successes in the wiregrass to the many food, clothing and furniture donations made to them during their first months in the area.
"I saw tremendous cooperation and everyone got out and that spirit has continued," said Eric Reed of Westgate Church of Christ.
Wiregrass Habitat for Humanity is currently working on 20 homes for Hurricane Katrina evacuees.
