A new look is coming to the Enterprise Municipal Airport. A Federal Aviation Administration grant is making it possible to place an eight-foot-high fence around the entire airport.
Recently, airport officials say there've been instances where someone has gotten into the airport and siphoned gas from the planes on the tarmac.
Also, police have responded to young people drag racing on the runways.
"We’re trying to stop the gas stealing and driving on the runway at night, drag racing at night as well,” said Roger Westerline, Airport Coordinator.
“We stopped a woman teaching her kids how to drive a car on the runway. The fence will stop that."
The entire three miles of fencing should be in place within the next few weeks.
