Because of recent outbursts, Dothan city commissioners must now follow a Code of Conduct.
At Tuesday’s commission meeting, four of the six commissioners voted to approve the code.
It includes rules such as treating others with respect, keeping each other informed and making decisions based on what is “best for the city”.
Dothan Mayor Pat Thomas says the code will keep city commissioners in line and not make a mockery of the city.
“If there's a business looking to locate here I certainly want them to see a professional commission on television,” said Mayor Thomas. “Sometimes when they come in, they'll take a look at your commission meeting to find out about your city, and if they do then I want them to se see a professional group of people."
District 1 and 2 commissioners Larry Matthews and Amos Newsome voted against the conduct code.
They say it has “crossed the line”.
