New Brockton Road Problems

For several Coffee County residents getting back and forth from their homes gets continually more difficult.

The state Department of Transportation has now closed County Road 533, better known as Tyler Street.

Work is taking place on the U.S 84 relocation project.

An exception has been made to local traffic, but a larger section of the highway has been closed for more than a year-and-a-half due to a 50-foot deep sinkhole.

Rebecca Hinton says she and her neighbors have been promised that the necessary repairs would be made.

New Brockton Mayor Charles Cole says the money is in place to do the necessary repairs.

It is up to the DOT to sign-off on the city engineering firm's plan to do the work.
