At 12:01 Thursday morning, a three-decade long relationship between WTVY-TV and a northwest, Florida cable operation will "end".
Over recent days, "angry" customers have flooded the switchboard to Valparaiso Broadband Communication Systems.
Valparaiso cable general manager Burt Bennett demonstrates with a flick of a switch WTVY-TV will be removed off the city run cable system.
Valparaiso is a bedroom community to Eglin Air Force Base. In a letter sent to the cable system's 15-hundred customers, the stations in the Pensacola-Mobile TV market have invoked a federal communication rule which basically removes channel four, and our sister station from Panama City, channel 7 off the cable system.
"Broadcasters are executing their permits and this is the first impact which has been to take off 4 and 7, but believe me it's something we don't want to do to remove 4 or 7."
A Valparaiso Cable representative says they've been bombarded with angry customers since announcing the removal of WTVY off the system.
