A child abuse investigation which has been ongoing since April is finally over with the arrest of a Houston County woman.
Houston County sheriff's investigators arrested 38-year-old Sherri Holloman McSwain Tuesday afternoon.
She is charged with torture and willful abuse of a child under 18 by a responsible person.
Investigators say the actions leading to this charge were withholding medical treatment and failing to protect a child from physical assault.
The investigation began after reports from school officials were made to the Houston County Department of Human Resources.
McSwain was released on a $25,000 bond.
Authorities said McSwain is the ex-wife of James Holloman who was sentenced to life in prison without parole for capital murder in the May 2000 slaying of 56-year-old Jimmy Clark of Rehobeth.
