Authorities say a Pembroke Pines man has died in the hospital from injuries suffered during a crash with an ambulance.
Police say 63-year-old Ira Johns was pronounced dead at a Hollywood hospital early Thursday morning. He was injured in a crash Wednesday night when his car was struck by the ambulance, which was responding to a rescue call with its lights and siren on.
Police say Johns was making a U-turn when he drove into the path of the ambulance, which hit the passenger side of his car.
No one in the ambulance was hurt. The crash was under investigation.
