Exxon Mobil Wins Court Dispute with Alabama

The latest dispute involves $23 million.

In 2007, the Alabama Supreme Court threw out most of a $3.6
billion verdict Alabama had won against the oil company in a
dispute over natural gas royalties from the wells. Exxon Mobil
ended up paying Alabama more than $121 million in royalties plus
interest.

The state's attorneys argued that Exxon Mobil should have paid
the state government an additional $23 million in interest. The
Alabama Supreme Court disagreed Friday.
