Rains Helped Drought in Alabama

Birmingham got nearly 4 inches of rain over the last two days
and actually has a rain surplus for the year at this point.
Montgomery received about 2¾ inches and is now just over 1 inch
below normal for the year.

Despite the downpours, forecasters say parts of the state remain
abnormally dry. The weather service says many areas remain in
moderate or severe droughts.

The latest information from the U.S. Drought Monitor service
shows the northern three-quarters of Alabama either in a moderate
drought or abnormally dry.
