Enterprise Retirement Village

People living near the site have made their concerns known at an Enterprise public hearing on a proposed retirement village.

A six to eight acre lot along Paul Street in Enterprise has become a point of contention. An Auburn developer would like to build a retirement village, consisting of both single and two bedroom apartments.

But during a public hearing, several residents along Paul Street say the complex would not be compatible with the neighborhood.

Developer Fred Bennett says the property in question is zoned commercial, in other words, a strip mall or other businesses can be built there. Bennett says he wants to be a good neighbor.

Mayor Tim Alford and city councilmen listened to the public input. They soon plan to make their decision on whether or not to permit the development.

A similar retirement village has been built in Bay Minnette, Alabama.

Several of its residents spoke at the public hearing in support of the project.
